Day 8: Short Term Goals

Short term goals for this month and why:

So...I'm not a very goal-ly person. I wish I was. My "short term goals" are usually for the next few hours--NOT for a month. :) However, that being said...

I have been trying very hard to get some more exercise. I have an exercise bike, and I try to get in 10 or so miles a day during the weekdays. It's easier then, because after I put the kids to bed, with Ryan not there to distract me I can usually get a good chunk of time in before i hit the hay myself. To help myself (read: force myself) to do this, I've started using the dvr in the bedroom, where the bike is (and the non-hd, non-stereo tv...) instead of the front room so that if i want to watch my nightly barrage of crap, at least i'll be breaking a little sweat while watching it. It's worked out pretty well, the past few months, but a few weeks ago i was at my 'sickest' in this whole i've-been-sick-for-two-months thing, and finally saw a doctor who told me to take it easy for a bit and not overdo. SO, i took that as i get to lay around and wish i felt better rather than exercise during my shows. (yeah...that just sounds like it would make you feel better, huh...) Anyway, a few days ago, andrew "gently" reminded me that i had made a new year's resolution (I know--you'd think a non-goal-ly person would avoid making resolutions!) was to exercise more, and reminded me that i hadn't been. So, last night i got back on the bike. So, i suppose my goal for the NEXT 30 days is to try to keep that up.

I have given up on the fact that exercise is going to change my body shape. I've been fairly consistent in getting excerise in, and it hasn't really helped much. I feel like i may have screwed up my metabolism so bad with past choices that I'm probably just destined to remain...well-rounded... So my reasoning for this goal would be to get stronger and be able to hike as well as i used to, and to hopefully get more energy to get through the days.
